Five for Friday {April 18}

Hi, friends!  Happy Friday to you!

I'm linking up with Doodlebugs again today for Five for Friday!
Check out what we were up to this week!

1. My students helped me put together a fun package on Monday to mail to our Texas pen pals.  This was sooo fun and my kiddos LOVED it!  They thought it was awesome that they would be surprising their pals with a box full of Easter eggs!

 2. We did some writing about Spring Break early this week.  I love teaching writing, and writing at this point in the year is just the best!  They have grown so much and have become so confident!

 3. The finished product of our "Buggy Over Books" display!  I had the students color the letters.  I think that adds a really personal touch to the board.
 We completed book recommendations for the display.  I chose five familiar books and asked students to choose their favorite to write about.
 Pete the Cat was the overwhelming favorite (Of course!  EVERY kid loves Pete!), but a few students chose one of the other books.
 And the bugs.  OH the bugs!  They. are. precious!
 The bugs are from Doodlebugs' Spring Directed Drawings pack.

 4. We had some Easter egg fun during math stations this week.  Skip counting practice!  It was a hit!

 5. We wrote a pen pal letter today.  It will be on it's way to Texas soon!  And we got a letter from our Colorado pals today, so we'll write them back next week.  Pen pal love is such a fun part of Kindergarten!!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Five for Friday {April 4}

Happy Friday, friends!  And Happy Spring Break (finally finally finally) to me!!  I love my kinder babies, but I was so ready for a week of relaxation and fun with my family!!  Of course I still wanted to link up with Doodlebugs, so here is my Five for Friday!

1.  We finished learning about letter-writing before break, and as a fun wrap-up each student chose a special someone to mail a letter to.  Here were our letters, all ready to go.  Of course, I blurred the address on the front envelope, but this was a really fun activity and very motivating for the kids!
They got to decorate the back side of their envelope before we put them in the mail.  Fun!

 2. We completed this cute bunny craftivity on Wednesday from A Cupcake for the Teacher.  When we get back from break, we only have one week before Easter.  I wanted to get these displayed before break.  They turned out so sweet!

3. I tell my class all year long that, if there is a book at home that they would like to read to the class, they are more than welcome to bring it in.  They must be able to read it completely independently in order to share it with the class.  This little guy was so adorable with his book on Wednesday.  He was also celebrating his birthday, so it was a fun thing to add to his day!

4. And then today is MY little guy's 7th birthday!  It was such a treat to spend our first day of Spring Break celebrating this awesome boy.  Our day started with homemade donuts and a candle on our family's celebration plate!

5. One of the best things about blogging is the way this community of teachers works together to learn from each other and help each other.  I am grateful that I have the opportunity to join several other bloggers to help out Tori from Tori's Teacher Tips.  Please click the graphic to head over to the TPT site where you can check out the bundles that are for sale.  And CLICK HERE to read the story behind the fundraiser.

Have a wonderful weekend!!

Five for Friday {March 29}

It's Friday!  Time to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for another Five for Friday.

1. We are learning about the earth in our current science unit.  This has included investigations using earth materials....and magnifying glasses!  There isn't a single child who wouldn't agree that magnifying glasses are so. much. FUN!  And, on this day, the science investigation included sand, soil, pebbles, and water.
 This sweet little one is the daughter of a good friend (and colleague) of mine.  She's precious!

 2. On Tuesday, the girls in my class and I enjoyed a GIRLS ONLY lunch.  More to come on that, but it was perfectly girly and OH so fun!

3. My Spring Break started Wednesday at 3:45 (to be exact)! :)  I was telling my students all day long on Wednesday that I would be having a dance party at 3:45.  And, as much as I love my 25 cherubs, DANCE I did when those busses rolled away!
YAY Spring Break!
My son still had school on Thursday, and was able to celebrate his birthday with his class since it falls over Spring Break.  His teacher invited me to come in to help him celebrate, and even gave me some time to read a story and do a fun activity with the class.  I loved every second of seeing my birthday boy in HIS Kindergarten class!

4. And then, this morning, I got to join my other favorite little for the Easter egg hunt at her school.  So thankful for time off to make special mommy memories!

5. With all of the bunny crafts and egg hunting behind us, my mind is ready to center and focus on the reason for this weekend's celebration.  I'm so thankful for my risen Savior!!

Happy Easter, friends!

Easter Bunny craft -- go grab it!

You have a few days left to squeeze in this Easter bunny craft...and you definitely should!  My Kindies had so much fun with this today, and the finished products look adorable hanging in our classroom.  They bring the feel of Spring, when really it is still snowy and cold outside here in West Michigan.

Just check out these cutie-pie bunnies!!

I modeled on the board as the students followed along, but each completed bunny definitely has it's own personality!  That's what makes them so much fun!

Saved the best for last.  Melt my heart...I LOVE this sweet bunny!!
